Republican actor Jon Voight is cast as Bear Bryant in upcoming movie.

This is going to thrill college football fans and Republicans everywhere!

Golden Globe winner and Republican actor Jon Voight is going to play the l-e-g-e-n-d-a-r-y Paul “Bear” Bryant in an upcoming football film. Bryant is best known as the head coach for the University of Alabama where he racked up 6 National Championships and 13 Conference Championships.  No small feat.

The movie is called “Woodlawn” and is being directed by The Erwin Brothers (Jon and Andrew) and is produced by Kevin Downes and Daryl Lefever.  It’s still in production and currently being shot in Birmingham, Alabama.  Variety described the movie:

“The story is focused on star African-American player Tony Nathan and the spiritual awakening during 1973-74 season at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham amid forced integration of Alabama’s public high schools. Nathan was successfully recruited by Bryant to play for the University of Alabama and went on to a successful professional career.”

Sounds like a great film.  We’ll definitely be checking it out!

I saw the Preview for “Woodlawn” while I went to see “Do You Believe (@DYBmovie)” – it looks fantastic, I can’t wait to see it this Fall. Both of these from/thru “Pure Flix (@Pure_Flix)” that had @GodsNotDeadFilm!
